The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has criticised President Bola Tinubu’s administration over the rising cost of living, arguing that Nigerians need lasting economic relief rather than a temporary reduction in fuel prices. The party’s Jigawa State governorship candidate, Sabo Muhammad Nakudu, made the remarks in a Facebook post on Sunday, blaming the country’s economic difficulties on policies introduced by the All Progressives Congress (APC) government.

Nakudu described the announced one-month fuel price reduction as insufficient to address the wider financial pressures facing households. He argued that Nigerians were still dealing with the effects of the fuel subsidy removal announced by Tinubu when he assumed office on May 29, 2023, and called on the Federal Government to introduce sustained measures to ease the burden on citizens.

The ADC candidate linked the temporary price reduction to a proposal by the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, to restore fuel subsidy if elected in 2027. Nakudu also accused the APC-led government of failing to adequately address economic hardship and insecurity, saying his party wanted to offer an alternative approach.
