Nollywood actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele has revealed that Everybody Loves Jenifa is the most expensive film she has produced, citing the high cost of transporting cast and crew to Ghana and constructing sets.

Funke Akindele made this known during an interview with CNN International correspondent Larry Madowo. She explained that the 2024 comedy-drama was filmed in both Nigeria and Ghana, with the entire cast and crew flown to Ghana for some scenes, including those shot at Safari Valley Resort.

The filmmaker also said she prefers building her own sets rather than filming in people’s homes, explaining that she usually rents or purchases locations before developing them for production. Despite the high expenses, Everybody Loves Jenifa reportedly grossed approximately ₦1.88 billion at the Nigerian box office.
