Vice President Kashim Shettima has criticised Peter Obi’s economic proposals, describing the former Anambra State governor as “the master of bogus statistics and incoherent economic prescriptions.” Shettima made the remarks on Wednesday during the inauguration of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council at the State House Banquet Hall in Abuja.

Although he referred to Obi as his “very good friend,” Shettima questioned his comparisons between Nigeria and countries such as Bangladesh. He argued that economic policies successful in other countries cannot be adopted in Nigeria without considering its population, economic structure, institutions and unique national challenges. He maintained that Nigeria’s circumstances require solutions tailored to its own needs rather than borrowed models.

Shettima also challenged Obi’s claim that he won the 2023 presidential election, describing it as a “bogus claim” and saying it lacked supporting evidence. He further accused the opposition figure of being disconnected from Nigeria’s political realities, intensifying the exchange between the two politicians ahead of the 2027 election.

  1. Which rubbish national challenges and structure is Mr Shettima saying…..Please sir rest. Nigeria can adopt any good policy and economic pattern that can enable comfortable life for the people and growth for the nation…we will only need to adjust into it properly by following the right structures used by the same country we are trying to adopt their economic policies.
So please stop giving excuses for your lack of interest of the people.
