Nollywood actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele has announced that her upcoming movie, The Four, will premiere in the United Kingdom on November 29 at Odeon Luxe, Leicester Square, London. She made the announcement on Monday through her verified Instagram page.
Funke Akindele described the event as a major milestone for Nigerian cinema, claiming that The Four would be the first Nollywood title to premiere at the prestigious London venue. The announcement has attracted congratulatory messages from colleagues, including Mo Bimpe and Enioluwa, with the post receiving more than 20,000 likes.
The UK premiere follows Akindele’s recent partnership with Facebook to promote Nollywood stories and expand the international reach of her productions. The Four is scheduled for its official premiere on December 11 and marks another project from the filmmaker, who holds the record for the highest-grossing Nollywood films.
