US Congressman Barry Moore has introduced a bill seeking to prohibit paid lobbying on behalf of the Nigerian government in the United States.
The bill, H.R. 10939, seeks to prevent individuals and lobbying firms in America from receiving payments to represent Nigeria while the country remains designated as a Country of Particular Concern (CPC).
Moore alleged that Nigeria has spent millions of dollars on lobbyists to downplay the persecution of Christians. The bill has been referred to the House Committee on Foreign Affairs for further legislative consideration.
