Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso has praised the midfield partnership between Moisés Caicedo and Jordan Henderson following the club’s 5-1 victory over Bournemouth in the English Premier League. Alonso said the pair brought stability, balance and a better understanding of the game to Chelsea’s midfield after the international break.

Speaking after the match, Alonso explained that Caicedo and Henderson had different qualities and playing positions but complemented each other well. He highlighted their ability to operate in tight spaces, support teammates and provide defensive balance, describing a strong midfield as fundamental to Chelsea’s progress.

He also identified Romeo Lavia, Reece James and Valentin Barco as players who could strengthen Chelsea’s midfield options. He noted that Lavia had contributed useful minutes and that James had also played in midfield, adding that the club would continue working to build a more balanced unit.
