Nollywood actor Ramsey Nouah has revealed that he has never won an Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Award (AMVCA), despite being nominated for Best Actor in 2016. Nouah made the disclosure while speaking on the Curiosity Made Me Ask Podcast, recalling his nomination for his performance in the movie 76.
The actor said the 2016 Best Actor category also included veteran actors Richard Mofe-Damijo (RMD) and Olu Jacobs. According to Nouah, another nominee eventually emerged as the winner, beating all the other contenders in the category.
Nouah also reflected on the voting system used at the time, saying the awards were largely determined by viewers’ votes. He noted that the current system involves both viewers’ votes and a jury, adding that he believed the earlier format favoured nominees with stronger social media followings.
