Paris Saint-Germain winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is set to undergo knee surgery after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) rupture during the club’s 4-2 Champions League victory over Barcelona on October 20. The Georgia international was injured following a challenge with Barcelona defender Xavi Espart and left the pitch in the 59th minute after struggling to put weight on his right leg.

PSG have not announced how long Kvaratskhelia will be out, leaving uncertainty over his return date. The 25-year-old joined the French side from Napoli in January 2025 and has become an important part of the squad, making 11 appearances this season.

The injury adds to PSG’s fitness concerns, with Ousmane Dembele and captain Marquinhos also expected to miss several weeks because of thigh injuries. Despite losing three key players to injury, PSG maintained their perfect Champions League record, scoring twice in the closing stages to defeat Barcelona and claim their third win in three matches.
