Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho has identified Arsenal as a major contender in the Champions League, acknowledging the English club’s quality after his team defeated Roma 4-3 on Wednesday night. The victory gave Madrid six points from their opening two fixtures, following an earlier win over Inter Milan.
Speaking after the match, Mourinho praised the strength of both opponents but stopped short of declaring Madrid the best team in the competition. He said Arsenal remained in contention, highlighting the London club as a team Madrid must take seriously in the Champions League race.
Madrid’s upcoming fixtures include matches against RB Leipzig, AEK Athens and PSV before they travel to the Emirates Stadium to face Arsenal on December 9. The meeting is expected to provide another test for both sides as the competition progresses.
