Harry Kane has extended his contract with Bayern Munich until 2029, committing his long-term future to the Bundesliga champions after an impressive spell in Germany.
The England international, 33, has agreed to a new deal after entering the final year of his original contract. Kane joined Bayern from Tottenham Hotspur in 2023 on a four-year agreement, but recent reports indicated that negotiations over an extension were progressing positively.
His new contract is reportedly worth more than £400,000 ($539,000) per week before bonuses, potentially making him the highest-paid footballer in Europe. Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappé and Manchester City’s Erling Haaland are also among the continent’s highest earners.
Harry Kane’s Success at Bayern Munich
Kane’s decision to remain at Bayern follows a remarkable period of individual and team achievements.
The striker scored 73 goals last season to claim the Ballon d’Or, becoming the first English player in 25 years to win the prestigious award.
He has also enjoyed significant success in German football, winning consecutive Bundesliga titles in 2025 and 2026, alongside the German Cup last season. Kane further established himself in the league’s history by becoming the fastest player to reach 100 Bundesliga goals, achieving the milestone in just 98 matches.
His impressive form has continued this season, with 12 goals in the campaign so far. Kane has now recorded 156 goals in 161 appearances for Bayern Munich.
Beyond his club achievements, Kane recently equalled Peter Shilton’s record for the most appearances by an England player.
The forward reached 125 international caps during England’s encounter with Czechia in the latest international break. He already holds the record as England’s highest goalscorer, with 91 goals for the national team.
Kane expressed satisfaction with his life in Munich, citing his connection with the club, its supporters and the city as major reasons behind his decision to extend his contract.
“I feel right at home at FC Bayern,” Kane said.
“I love the club, the fans and the city of Munich. We have a fantastic team and, in Vincent Kompany, a fantastic manager. It makes me very proud to be part of this club. My whole family is very happy here.
“I was keen to stay. I’m now looking forward to the future and I want to win many more titles with this great club.”
Bayern Munich president Herbert Hainer described Kane’s journey from a major signing to one of the club’s most influential figures as a special development.
He praised the striker’s performances and growing relationship with the club’s supporters, while commending the management team for securing the agreement.
Chief executive Jan-Christian Dreesen also celebrated the announcement, describing it as positive news for the club and its fans.
According to Dreesen, Kane has made a significant contribution through his goals, leadership and professionalism since arriving in 2023. He added that winning the Ballon d’Or further highlighted the forward’s remarkable development at Bayern.
Bayern Munich Plan for the Future With Harry Kane
The club’s board member for sport, Max Eberl, said the agreement provides greater certainty for Bayern’s long-term planning and reinforces their ambitions of competing for major trophies.
He noted that having a player of Kane’s calibre creates opportunities for the team and expressed confidence in his continued role in shaping the club’s future.
Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund also praised the England captain, describing him as a complete striker, leader and dedicated team player.
Freund highlighted Kane’s contributions both on and off the pitch, stressing that his commitment and determination continue to benefit the entire squad.
With his future secured until 2029, Kane will look to build on his achievements at Bayern Munich and help the club maintain its position among Europe’s leading teams.
