Good morning, Nigerian. Here are the major newspaper headlines making the news today, Wednesday, November 4, 2026.

1. National Assembly To Send State Police Bill To Tinubu

The National Assembly has announced plans to transmit the State Police Bill to President Bola Tinubu for assent following approval by 28 State Houses of Assembly.

The Clerk of the National Assembly, Kamoru Ogunlana, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday. He confirmed that the required two-thirds majority of the 36 state assemblies had been reached to proceed with the constitutional amendment.

Ogunlana added that his office would continue to receive responses from states that had yet to submit their reports.

2. Every Suggestion Is Seen As An Attack – Emir Sanusi

The Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, has accused the President Bola Tinubu-led administration of treating comments and suggestions as attacks.

Sanusi, a former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, also criticised the government for lacking effective spokespersons. He made the remarks at the Oxford Global Think Tank conference organised by Arunma Oteh.

However, he commended the administration’s economic reforms, noting that Nigeria’s GDP grew by 4.48 per cent in the second quarter of 2026.

3. NYSC Tells Court Uche Nnaji’s Certificate Is Fake

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has told a Federal High Court in Abuja that it did not issue the discharge certificate presented by former Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Uche Nnaji.

An NYSC official, Yusuf Jumare, testified that an investigation conducted at the request of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) showed that the certificate was fake.

Jumare identified four alleged irregularities, including the use of a certificate prefix introduced in 1990, an incorrect call-up number format, a 13-month service period instead of 12 months, and a signature title that was not in use at the time.

4. Peter Obi Is Only Exhausted, Not Sick – NDC

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has dismissed concerns about the health of its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, describing his condition as physical exhaustion.

The party’s Deputy Campaign Spokesperson, Sam Omale, said Obi’s demanding schedule and frequent travels had left him with little time to rest.

Speaking during an interview on Channels Television, Omale maintained that nothing was medically wrong with Obi. He added that his team was encouraging him to get enough sleep and rest.

5. Senate Rejects Plan To Revive Nigeria Airways

The Senate has rejected a proposal to revive the defunct Nigeria Airways and Air Nigeria, describing the former airlines as entities that could not be brought back to life.

Instead, lawmakers urged the Federal Government to establish a new and viable national carrier. They also called for direct flights between Nigeria and China.

The resolutions followed a motion on the Bilateral Air Services Agreement between both countries. The Senate further asked relevant government ministries to engage Chinese authorities on flight access and easier business visas for Nigerian traders.

6. Atiku Alleges Plot To Disrupt ADC Rally In Sokoto

Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has accused the leadership of the Department of State Services (DSS) of mobilising protesters to disrupt the African Democratic Congress (ADC) campaign rally in Sokoto State.

Atiku alleged that the planned protests were intended to create confusion and provide an excuse for the state government to impose a curfew, preventing the party from holding its rally.

Speaking at a press briefing in Abuja, he also accused the Sokoto State Government of denying the ADC access to public facilities and refusing to provide logistical support for its campaign preparations.

7. Journalist Gave Us 24 Hours To Announce Wedding – Ibrahim Suleiman

Nollywood actor Ibrahim Suleiman has revealed how a journalist pressured him and his wife, actress Ihuoma Linda Ejiofor, to publicly announce their wedding in 2018.

Speaking in an interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, Suleiman said the couple had no plans to make their marriage public. He explained that they had tied the knot a week before the announcement and wanted to keep it private.

However, a journalist contacted them, claiming to have confirmed their marriage through sources and giving them 24 hours to announce it or face a published report. Suleiman said his wife eventually agreed that they should make the announcement themselves.

8. Some Musicians Use Voodoo To Get Hit Songs – Odumodublvck

Nigerian rapper Odumodublvck has claimed that some musicians in the entertainment industry use voodoo to achieve hit songs.

The rapper, whose real name is Tochukwu Ojogwu, made the claim during an appearance on the Tea With Tay podcast.

He explained that producing a hit song was difficult, adding that some artistes go through their entire careers without achieving one. He also praised Burna Boy, Wizkid and Davido for consistently releasing hit songs.

9. Police Investigate Death Of Spanish Footballer Jesús de Miguel

Spanish police have launched an investigation into the death of CD Tenerife striker Jesús de Miguel following an on-field collision with FC Andorra goalkeeper Jesús Owono.

The 30-year-old forward died in hospital at about 8 a.m. on November 3, 2026, after suffering cardiac arrest. The incident happened during Monday’s Spanish second-division match when Owono rushed out of his penalty area and struck him in the chest while attempting to clear the ball.

Authorities confirmed that prosecutors would be involved in the investigation. However, officials in the Canary Islands described the process as routine, explaining that Spanish law requires a judicial inquiry into deaths classified as non-natural.

10. Uzoma, Adegbuyi And Akekoromowei Earn CAF Awards Nominations

Three Nigerian footballers, Christiana Uzoma, Oluwakemi Adegbuyi and Janet Akekoromowei, have received nominations for the 2026 Confederation of African Football (CAF) Awards.

CAF announced the nominees on Tuesday, November 3, ahead of the ceremony scheduled to take place in Lagos on December 7. The Super Falcons were also nominated for the Women’s National Team of the Year award.

Uzoma received a nomination for Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year following her performances for Edo Queens and Nigeria’s youth teams. The 17-year-old also captained the Falconets at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Poland.
