Pastor in charge of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Glorious People Assembly, Aleto, Deacon Steve Eyo, has died after collapsing while preaching at a funeral service in Eleme Local Government Area of Rivers State. Eyo was reportedly delivering a sermon at the burial of a female church member on Friday when he suddenly collapsed, leaving mourners shocked.
According to Leadership, Eyo began preaching at about 1:10 p.m. and collapsed roughly 15 minutes later while concluding his message on the certainty of death and the need to live with the awareness that life can end at any time. He was taken to a nearby hospital in an ambulance that had been hired to transport the remains of the deceased, but he was later confirmed dead.
The circumstances surrounding Eyo’s death have not been publicly disclosed, and no specific medical cause has been given. Residents described him as a cheerful man, peacemaker and father figure who supported people in the community and maintained close relationships with those around him.
