The inauguration of President Bola Tinubu’s 344-member re-election campaign council in Osun State has exposed lingering divisions within the All Progressives Congress (APC), following the absence of several prominent party leaders. Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party, appointed to coordinate the campaign in the state, inaugurated the council in Osogbo.

Those absent included former governor Adegboyega Oyetola, APC governorship candidate Bola Oyebamiji, state party chairman Tajudeen Lawal and Senator Francis Fadahunsi. The inauguration came a day after the state APC leadership complained that it had not received formal notification of the event. Former governor Bisi Akande led the APC delegation, while party leaders Ajibola Basiru and Iyiola Omisore were among those present.

Speaking at the event, Basiru urged APC members to put aside personal ambitions and support Adeleke’s appointment as campaign coordinator, describing Tinubu’s re-election as the priority. Adeleke called on coalition members from the Accord Party, APC and PDP to work together to deliver the president in Osun, while clarifying that their alliance would not extend to legislative elections. He also expressed optimism about resolving the state’s local government crisis soon.
