Norway manager Ståle Solbakken has raised concerns about Erling Haaland’s physical condition, describing the Manchester City striker as “thoroughly spent” after a demanding schedule with club and country. Haaland was substituted in the 67th minute of Norway’s UEFA Nations League clash with Portugal, with Solbakken saying the forward had been subjected to an intense workload.

Solbakken noted that Haaland is among the players carrying the heaviest workload because Manchester City compete across multiple competitions and rely heavily on the striker. He explained that the demanding football calendar, combined with limited rest periods, places significant physical strain on players.

Meanwhile, reports have fuelled speculation about Haaland’s long-term future at Manchester City, with Spain reportedly preferred over another Premier League move if he eventually leaves. However, there is no confirmed bid or agreement involving the striker, who remains under contract with City until 2034, while the reported 2027 transfer window is not confirmation that he plans to leave the club
