Nollywood stars have paid tribute to veteran actor Francis Duru following his death at the age of 57. The actor reportedly died on Friday after a brief illness, leaving colleagues mourning the loss of a performer whose career spanned more than three decades.
Actor Kanayo O. Kanayo described Duru as one of Nigeria’s most versatile and prolific performers, while Stephanie Linus called his death tragic and heartbreaking. Mercy Johnson-Okojie also expressed shock, saying she was overwhelmed and speechless over the loss.
Kate Henshaw reflected on the brevity of life and prayed for Duru’s soul to rest in peace. Duru became widely known for playing Ahanna in Amaka Igwe’s classic film Rattlesnake, a role that helped establish his place in Nollywood.
