A Nigerian woman has shared how her cousin reportedly rejected a fully funded BSc scholarship to study Computer Engineering in India in 2020 because he did not want to lose his girlfriend. According to her post on X, he was already in 300 level when he received the scholarship opportunity.
She said family members encouraged him to accept the scholarship and travel to India, but his girlfriend allegedly threatened to end their relationship if he left Nigeria. The man reportedly chose to stay, telling his family, “I can’t risk my relationship.”
However, after completing their NYSC programme, the couple reportedly went their separate ways when the woman gained admission to study for her master’s degree in the United Kingdom.
