Veteran Nollywood actress Toyin Afolayan, popularly known as Lola Idije, has advised society to stop pressuring women into getting married at a young age. She noted that some women may not find their life partners until they are 40 or 50.
Speaking on the Africanlist Podcast, the actress also urged people to stop judging women who raise children without husbands. She explained that some women become single mothers because of circumstances beyond their control, while others have to shoulder the responsibility of raising their children alone.
Lola Idije questioned the pressure placed on women to marry in their twenties, warning that rushing into marriage could lead to choosing the wrong partner. She stressed that not every woman has a husband to support her in raising children.
