Nollywood actor Uzor Arukwe has explained why he is not a strong supporter of marriage, arguing that women often face greater responsibilities and challenges within the union.

Speaking during an interview on the In My Opinion podcast, Uzor Arukwe highlighted the demands placed on women, including pregnancy, childbirth, raising a family and the expectation to adopt their husbands’ surnames. He said these responsibilities have shaped his perspective on marriage.

The actor also noted that society is increasingly recognising that marriage does not define a woman’s worth or identity. He recalled how women were once pressured to marry and have children by a certain age, adding that he has also met women who do not want children.
