Tesla plans to wind down Cybertruck production at its Texas gigafactory around the middle of next year, according to CEO Elon Musk.

Musk said the move would allow Tesla to increase production of the newly launched Cybercab, which is central to the company’s robotaxi plans. The Cybertruck has struggled to achieve mass-market appeal amid regulatory challenges, recalls, quality-control issues and repeated price changes.

It does not separately disclose Cybertruck sales, grouping them under “Other Models,” which recorded 8,295 deliveries in the third quarter. Musk said the Cybertruck fleet would remain for a long time and described the production wind-down as “the end of an era.”
