Social media activist VeryDarkMan (VDM) has finally cleared the air on why he fell out with some of the biggest names in Afrobeats, including Davido and Zlatan.

According to VDM, the bad blood isn’t about jealousy it’s rooted in hypocrisy and conflicting motives during the campaign for justice for the late singer Mohbad.
In a video addressing his followers, VDM explained how a once-promising friendship with Davido fell apart. After connecting ipopular1.ngn 2024, VDM claims he stumbled upon a WhatsApp group chat from 2025 revealing that people in Davido’s inner circle were allegedly involved in his 2024 arrest. When VDM tried to call Davido to get answers, he was ghosted—only to later see blog rumors claiming he was trying to secretly record the “Unavailable” singer. VDM labeled the move a total betrayal.
Furthermore, VDM accused certain celebrities of using Mohbad’s tragic passing to settle personal scores with Naira Marley and pressure Zinoleesky into leaving Marlian Records, rather than actually fighting for justice.
VDM didn’t spare Zlatan either, calling him out for staying silent during the initial justice campaign, only to turn around and use the spotlight to promote their joint track, ‘Account Balance.’
Reiterating that his issues with Davido also tie into the singer’s political stances, VDM made it clear: he is officially done associating with them. For him, it’s about standing up against actions that undermined the fight for Mohbad, not clout.
