Arise News anchor Rufai Oseni has challenged NDC presidential candidate Peter Obi over his claim that he won the 2023 presidential election. Obi recently acknowledged in a BBC interview that he had no evidence to substantiate the claim, while maintaining that he believed he won.
Reacting on Arise Television, Oseni questioned why Obi would continue making the claim without providing supporting evidence. He asked whether Obi had conducted detailed analysis of the election results and where the data or independent collation supporting his position was.
Oseni said a claim of victory should be backed by evidence, arguing that Obi’s position could not establish that he won the election without supporting data. The 2023 presidential election results declared by INEC were later upheld by the courts after Obi challenged the outcome.
