Former Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha was reportedly arrested by Nigeria Police Force operatives on Monday night at REIZ Continental Hotel in Abuja. According to The Sun, the arrest relates to allegations of criminal conspiracy, forgery and impersonation.
Reports indicate that the police obtained a bench warrant after Rochas Okorocha allegedly failed to honour invitations for questioning. The former governor had previously denied reports of an arrest warrant, describing them as false and misleading. His media aide, Sam Onwuemeodo, also accused the Imo State government of spreading what Okorocha called fake news.
The reported warrants, dated September 9, 2026, also named former Senator Ifeanyi Araraume, Timothy Ama Chuks and Amen Okorocha over alleged involvement in disputed APC primary election documents. Okorocha had threatened legal action unless those circulating the reports produced the purported court order or retracted their claims. The allegations remain subject to legal proceedings.
