Dangote Group is reportedly considering extending the subscription deadline for the Dangote refinery’s initial public offering (IPO) by two weeks to give more investors across Africa an opportunity to participate. According to The Cable, sources familiar with the development said the closing date could move from October 13 to October 27, 2026.
The proposed extension is reportedly linked to preparations by several African stock exchanges to create platforms that would allow investors in their respective countries to subscribe to the offer. The refinery opened its IPO on September 14, offering 4.1 billion ordinary shares at ₦525 per share, with a minimum purchase of 10 shares.
The offer is expected to raise up to ₦2.15 trillion if fully subscribed, with the shares scheduled for listing on the Nigerian Exchange Limited after completion of the IPO. Dangote Group CEO Aliko Dangote described the offer as the “People’s IPO,” saying it was intended to give members of the public an opportunity to own a stake in the refinery. The proposed deadline extension has been reported but should not be treated as confirmed until officially announced.
