Arise TV anchor Reuben Abati has challenged President Bola Tinubu’s claim that opposition parties are responsible for hunger and poverty in Nigeria. Tinubu made the allegation during the APC campaign flag-off in Kaduna State on Saturday.
Speaking on Arise TV’s Morning Show, Abati argued that the government should address the hardship Nigerians are facing instead of blaming the opposition. He pointed to the increase in petrol prices from about ₦195 to between ₦1,400 and ₦1,500 per litre, alongside the rising cost of food.
Reuben Abati also cited the increase in the price of garri from about ₦500 to ₦2,500 per paint bucket. He maintained that the APC, which has governed Nigeria since 2015, should take responsibility for the country’s economic challenges and focus on reducing the cost of living.
