Peter Obi, the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, has said he is not a saint but maintains that he achieved a record of savings during his time as Anambra State governor that he believes no other governor has matched. He made the remarks during a town hall meeting with supporters in the United Kingdom, where he urged Nigerians to choose leaders with proven records of productivity.
Obi expressed concern about the economic hardship facing Nigerians and urged citizens in the diaspora to encourage their relatives at home to support candidates with a record of productive leadership. He argued that Nigeria’s progress would require leaders who are less corrupt and committed to managing public resources responsibly.
The former governor called for a new Nigeria built on fighting corruption and electing competent leaders. He said the country needs leaders with capacity, character, compassion and commitment to unite and secure the nation while moving the economy from consumption to production.
