Nollywood actress Laide Bakare has raised concerns about the welfare of her two sons amid an ongoing custody dispute with their father. In a video shared on Instagram, the actress said she decided to speak publicly because she had become increasingly worried about the safety and wellbeing of her children.

Bakare alleged that the children were not being treated properly while staying with their stepmother and claimed she had overheard a conversation in which the woman allegedly instructed some boys not to beat her children where injuries would be visible. Bakare said she recorded the conversation and had previously raised her concerns with the children’s father, whom she accused of failing to take action.

The actress also alleged that her former husband had prevented her from renewing the boys’ passports, affecting her plans for them to live with her or travel to the United States. She appealed for help in resolving the custody dispute and urged their father to allow her to take custody of the children; the allegations remain claims made by Bakare, with no response from the other parties included in the report.
