The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, has praised Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), for ordering the return of a multi-billion naira donation after investigations linked the funds to financial crime. Olukoyede disclosed this while addressing church workers at a pre-Holy Ghost Congress meeting.

According to the EFCC chairman, a church member had donated billions of naira towards an RCCG project, but the commission later discovered that the money was connected to criminal activities. He said Adeboye directed that the funds be returned within 24 hours after the church was informed, although the donor, project and exact amount were not disclosed.

Olukoyede urged religious institutions to verify the sources of donations and reject funds suspected to be proceeds of crime, warning that religious positions would not protect anyone from prosecution. Responding, Adeboye assured that RCCG would not shield anyone involved in financial misconduct and instructed pastors to maintain proper financial records and avoid corruption.
