Former Manchester City star David Silva has backed Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Fabian Ruiz to win the 2026 Ballon d’Or, overlooking Barcelona youngster Lamine Yamal. Silva believes Ruiz deserves the award after winning major trophies in recent years.
Silva described Ruiz as a wonderful footballer who does not receive enough recognition for his performances. The former Spain international also stressed the importance of teamwork, saying it is essential to winning titles.
“If I had to give the Ballon d’Or to someone, it would be Fabian, because he has won the most titles in the last two years,” Silva said. He added that he admires Ruiz and questioned why the PSG midfielder does not receive more recognition.
