Cristiano Ronaldo has been provisionally suspended by the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) as it investigates his departure from the national team’s training camp in September. According to Portuguese broadcaster RTP, the federation’s Disciplinary Council opened proceedings against the Al-Nassr forward on October 9, with the case classified as urgent.
Ronaldo reportedly left Portugal’s training camp in Copenhagen on September 30 following a disagreement with head coach Jorge Jesus over his role in the team. The incident prompted questions about their relationship, and the five-time Ballon d’Or winner later admitted that leaving the camp was wrong. A report by beIN SPORTS on October 6 also said he had apologised to his teammates and was prepared to accept any punishment.
The FPF said details of the disciplinary proceedings would remain confidential until the investigation is completed. Ronaldo has reportedly expressed his willingness to return to Portugal’s squad after serving any suspension, but the federation has yet to announce a final punishment. The case remains ongoing, and further disciplinary action is still possible.
