Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, has insisted that the South-East should be allowed to complete an eight-year presidential tenure when power eventually rotates to the region.
Benjamin Kalu made the statement at an APC women’s rally in Enugu on Saturday, criticising those advocating for a single four-year term for an Igbo president. His comments followed an earlier pledge by Peter Obi, the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, to serve only one term if elected.
The Deputy Speaker argued that the Igbo people should not wait 60 years to occupy the presidency for just four years. He maintained that the South-East deserves the same opportunity of serving two consecutive terms as other regions that have produced Nigerian presidents.

What’s this with one term for Igbos…..I’m not their fan but it doesn’t make sense if a leader deserves a second term nothing should stop him at all.
