Veteran Nollywood actor Pete Edochie has described himself as a father figure in Nigerian society, saying his age and experience influence how political leaders listen to him. In an interview with TV3, the actor said he would turn 80 in six months and recalled appealing to the government for financial assistance for an ailing colleague, who reportedly received ₦500,000 the following week.

Pete Edochie also opened up about his current health challenges during a visit to ailing Ghanaian actor Emmanuel Armah in Accra. He revealed that he has difficulty walking and experiences swelling in different parts of his body, including his hands and legs, although the swelling sometimes subsides.

Despite his condition, the veteran actor said he remains hopeful of recovering. He also expressed concern about becoming a burden to those around him, sharing his worries while offering support to Armah, who has also been experiencing health difficulties.
