Veteran Yoruba actor Yinka Quadri has explained why he and other members of the Yoruba film industry are supporting President Bola Tinubu’s bid for a second term. Speaking on the African A-List programme, Quadri said his support was based on personal experiences and the assistance Tinubu had reportedly provided to entertainers over the years.

Yinka Quadri recalled that Tinubu’s relationship with members of the entertainment industry began when he was governor of Lagos State. He cited the late actor Babatunde Omidina, popularly known as Baba Suwe, whose medical bills Tinubu reportedly helped cover during an illness.

The actor also recounted how he and other entertainers, including Fathia Balogun and Yomi Fabiyi, approached Tinubu for financial assistance following the death of actress Moji Olaiya. According to Quadri, Tinubu paid $25,000 to help bring Olaiya’s body back from abroad, an act he said contributed to his continued support for the president.
