Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has accused former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi of alleged mismanagement of public funds during his time in office. He made the allegations during a media chat on Tuesday, October 13, questioning Amaechi’s handling of money reportedly allocated to healthcare and fumigation projects in Rivers State.
Wike claimed that Amaechi spent more than ₦50 billion on a hospital project but failed to provide even a single chemist in the state. He also alleged that $10 million in state funds was allocated to fumigation but that the exercise was not carried out anywhere in Rivers State.
The FCT minister further claimed that a panel of inquiry indicted Amaechi and that the former governor failed to appear before it to answer questions about the allegations. These claims were made by Wike during the interview; no response from Amaechi was included in the report.
