Uzor Arukwe Explains Why He Cannot Speak Yoruba

Nollywood actor Uzor Arukwe has explained why he cannot speak Yoruba fluently despite growing up in Lagos, saying his childhood environment influenced his language skills.

Speaking on CreativiTea with Linda, Arukwe said he grew up in Festac Town, where many of his neighbours were Igbo. He explained that he had limited opportunities to interact regularly with Yoruba speakers.

Uzor Arukwe added that he understands Yoruba to some extent but is not confident enough to speak it fluently. He attributed this to the language environment he experienced while growing up.
