Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has pledged to tackle corruption if elected president in 2027. Speaking at the inauguration of the partyโs National Campaign Council, the former Anambra State governor promised not to misuse public funds or allow anyone in his administration to steal Nigeriaโs money.
Peter Obi also called on President Bola Tinubu to withdraw from the 2027 presidential race, declaring that the incumbent should step aside. He maintained that his proposed administration would prioritise accountability and protect public resources for the benefit of Nigerians.
In a separate statement, Obi condemned the reported arrest of NDC political mobiliser Rilwan Olawale at his Lagos residence and demanded his immediate release. He accused Tinubu of encouraging political violence and warned that the alleged harassment of opposition supporters could undermine democracy ahead of the 2027 elections.
