The Oyo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has vowed to hold Governor Seyi Makinde accountable for the state’s finances after his tenure ends. The party made its position known following the State House of Assembly’s approval of a fresh ₦100 billion loan on Wednesday.
In a statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Wasiu Sadare, the APC also criticised Makinde’s proposed ₦4.2 billion spending on the forthcoming local government election. The party said the latest borrowing request had raised further questions about the state government’s financial decisions.
The APC alleged that funds belonging to the state had been misappropriated and vowed to pursue accountability after The Oyo state Governor leaves office. Sadare said the governor and members of his administration would be expected to account for any money found to have been improperly used, although the allegation has not been established as fact.
