The Oyo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has criticised Governor Seyi Makinde who is the current governor of Oyo state, following the abduction of three staff members of the Cocoa Research Institute of Nigeria (CRIN). The workers were reportedly kidnapped within the institute’s premises last Friday.

In a statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Wasiu Sadare, the APC demanded that Makinde explain the steps his administration was taking to secure the release of the victims. The party also called for measures to address rising insecurity and prevent similar incidents in the state.

The criticism comes as Makinde disclosed that President Bola Tinubu had asked him to present Bayo Adelabu’s ministerial appointment as his choice, despite the governor initially recommending Bimbo Adekanmbi for the budget and economic planning portfolio. Makinde said he declined to claim the nomination because Tinubu had already decided to appoint Adelabu.
