Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo on Friday received the remains of Chief Dan Orbih, a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain and former chairman of the Governing Council of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, at Benin Airport. The governor later led family members, friends, political associates and government officials to Orbih’s residence in Benin for the lying-in-state ceremony.
Describing Orbih’s death as a major loss to Edo State, Okpebholo said the late politician was more than a political associate to him, calling him a brother. He also prayed for strength and comfort for the family during the difficult period.
Tributes also came from religious and political leaders, who remembered Orbih as a courageous politician, master tactician and generous man. PDP chieftain Pascal Ugbome praised his approach to opposition politics, while APC chieftain Osagie Ize-Iyamu highlighted his compassion and support for others.
