Veteran Nollywood actor, producer and director Steve Echendu has reportedly died after battling an undisclosed illness. His death was announced on Facebook by his colleague, Wisdom Nwankwo.
Nwankwo expressed sadness over the loss, noting that Echendu was among the industry figures who helped shape Nollywood. He also reflected on the recent death of another colleague, Austinfair Nwaulu, describing the losses within a short period as painful.
Echendu was known for his roles in films including Fury (2019), Knockout Blessing (2018) and Infant at Heart (2024). His death was reported shortly after the death of fellow actor Francis Duru was confirmed.
