Electricity supply may begin to recover in parts of Nigeria within 48 to 72 hours as the Federal Government works to restore generating capacity affected by maintenance, gas shortages and damaged transmission infrastructure.
Nigeria Minister of Power, Joseph Tegbe, disclosed this in a statement on Friday, November 6, 2026, acknowledging the impact of outages on households and businesses in four states, including Lagos and the Federal Capital Territory. He explained that the challenges had reduced electricity available on the national grid, forcing operators to introduce load shedding in some locations.
Tegbe said the government was working with power operators to restore affected generating units in phases, improve gas supply and accelerate repairs to damaged transmission lines. He expressed appreciation to affected residents and businesses, promising further updates as restoration efforts progress.
