Real Madrid manager José Mourinho has dismissed the idea of changing his team’s tactics specifically to contain Barcelona forward Lamine Yamal ahead of El Clásico. Speaking before the match, Mourinho acknowledged the 19-year-old’s talent but maintained that Real Madrid would rely on their established playing structure rather than adjust their entire approach for one opponent.
Mourinho said there was no special plan for Yamal, stressing that talented players deserved respect but that Real Madrid would not change its overall system to deal with him. The clash comes with Real Madrid six points behind Barcelona in La Liga, while the visitors will be without suspended Brazilian forward Vinícius Júnior.
Barcelona head into the encounter after losing 4-2 to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League, where close marking restricted Yamal’s influence. However, Barcelona remain unbeaten in the league, having won all nine matches to collect 27 points and top the table. Real Madrid, meanwhile, sit third after recording two defeats in their opening nine league games.
