An Ibadan woman, Alimot Akande, has appealed to President Bola Tinubu and security agencies to rescue her daughter and other prospective NYSC members reportedly abducted while travelling from Ibadan to Abia State. Akande said the youths left Ibadan on Wednesday and that her daughter was among those taken during an attack on their journey.
According to Akande, the passengers stopped in Onitsha at about 10 p.m. before continuing their journey the following morning. She said her daughter later sent a brief message reading “kidnappers!” after the bus was reportedly attacked, after which the family could no longer reach her.
Akande urged the Federal Government, NYSC management, police and other security agencies to intensify efforts to locate the victims and secure their safe return. The incident is part of a wider security concern surrounding the movement of prospective corps members to orientation camps, while authorities continue efforts to establish the exact number of people still missing.
