Chelsea midfielder Moises Caicedo has vowed to improve his communication on the pitch as he continues developing his leadership skills under manager Xabi Alonso. The 24-year-old made the comments after returning to the starting line-up following a brief injury lay-off and helping Chelsea secure a 5-1 victory over Bournemouth.

Speaking to Chelsea’s official website, Caicedo said coaches have often encouraged him to communicate more with his teammates. Although he considers himself a leader, the Ecuador international admitted that speaking more on the pitch does not come naturally to him, so he tries to lead through his performances and actions.

Caicedo also praised former Chelsea defender Thiago Silva for setting an example through his commitment to helping teammates. He described his place in Chelsea’s leadership group as a source of pride for himself and his family, as the club prepares to face Everton away from home.
