Lionel Messi has expanded his football investments in Spain after becoming the new owner of CD Eldense. The club confirmed the takeover on Thursday, although the deal remains subject to approval from Spain’s National Sports Council (CSD).
Eldense, founded in 1921, described Messi’s arrival as a significant new chapter in its long history. The club said the ownership change forms part of a long-term project focused on strengthening its sporting, institutional and social development while preserving its identity and traditional blue-and-red colours.
The acquisition would make Eldense the second Spanish club linked to Messi’s ownership, following his earlier investment in UE Cornellà. Eldense said the project is intended to help the club establish itself further in professional football, with the transaction still awaiting the required authorization under Spain’s Sports Law.
