Musicians, actors and other creatives have gathered in Ilorin, Kwara State, to celebrate the legacy of late Afrobeat legend Fela Anikulapo-Kuti through an exhibition showcasing his life, music and activism.
The exhibition, titled Exhibition of Fela Anikulapo-Kuti: A Retrospective, began on October 26 and will run until December 31, 2026. It was organised by June Creative Art Advisory in partnership with the Kwara State Government, featuring photographs, films, archival materials and artworks documenting Fela’s influence.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq said the Institute of Contemporary African Arts and Films (ICAAF) was established to promote cultural education, preserve African heritage and support emerging talents. Fela’s daughter, Yeni Anikulapo-Kuti, commended the governor for honouring her father despite his not being from Kwara State. The event also attracted veteran actors Yinka Quadri, Ibrahim Chatta and other entertainment personalities.
