Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo has criticised Peter Obi over the former Anambra State governor’s claim that Nigeria could be wealthier if public funds were kept in banks to generate interest.

Reacting on X, Keyamo described Obi’s remarks as unintelligent and linked them to what he said was a sharp decline in the politician’s approval ratings. Obi had made the statement during a radio interview in Nasarawa State.

Obi argued that Nigeria could become significantly wealthier if public funds were properly managed and allowed to earn interest. He also explained that he believed government projects funded with public money should speak for themselves without elaborate ceremonies or television publicity.
