Kelechi Iheanacho has expressed his happiness at returning to the Super Eagles ahead of Nigeria’s international friendly against Russia on Tuesday. The 30-year-old forward has been recalled after more than a year away from the national team and said his passion for representing Nigeria has remained strong throughout his absence.
Speaking to NFF TV, Iheanacho reflected on his long journey with the national team, having represented Nigeria from the junior levels through to the senior side. He said playing for the Super Eagles remains a personal dream and insisted that his decision to represent the country is driven by his love for football rather than any individual.
Iheanacho also defended his decision to join Turkish second-tier club Bursaspor after helping Celtic win the league and Cup double during his loan spell from Sevilla. He described the Turkish second division as competitive and said he is enjoying his time there, with his performances currently standing at 11 goals and two assists in eight appearances for the club.
