The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is set to begin distributing Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to eligible registered voters within the next three days as part of preparations for the 2027 general elections. The exercise will cover Nigerians who recently registered to vote, transferred their voting locations or applied to replace damaged PVCs.

INEC Chairman Professor Joash Amupitan disclosed this during a strategic engagement with journalists in Abuja. He said the distribution is intended to ensure eligible voters receive their cards in time to participate in the electoral process, while the commission is also strengthening technology and security measures to prevent stolen, lost or compromised PVCs from being misused.

Amupitan also urged political parties and their supporters to respect the campaign activities of rival parties ahead of the 2027 elections. He called on all political actors to allow opponents to conduct rallies, campaigns and other activities peacefully as preparations for the elections continue.
