Former leaders of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) have intervened in the dispute between the unions over the Federal Government’s ₦70,000 transport allowance.
Former NLC President Ayuba Wabba said labour veterans had appealed to Joe Ajaero and Festus Osifo to stop their public exchanges and embrace dialogue. He described the disagreement as a family misunderstanding and said both union leaders had agreed to work towards resolving the issue.
Meanwhile, Arewa Think Tank Convener, Muhammad Alhaji Yakubu, criticised the unions for their treatment of President Bola Tinubu. He argued that organised labour should acknowledge the government’s provision of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses and fuelling support instead of focusing mainly on criticising the administration.
