Desola Afod has withdrawn her earlier warning to Yoruba film practitioners following criticism on social media. In a statement shared on Instagram, she clarified that she did not intend to generalise her complaint to everyone in the industry.
The former wife of movie director Kunle Afod had complained that some actors called her name without showing her respect. Her remarks drew criticism from colleagues, including Wumi Toriola, who advised her to address the individuals involved rather than accuse the entire industry.
In her retraction, Desola said her comments were directed at the few people she believed had wronged her. However, she maintained that she would continue using the name Desola Afod, responding to Wumi’s suggestion that she change her surname following her separation from Kunle Afod.
